Lyle Wray, Executive Director of Capitol Region Council of Governments, writes an excellent Op-Ed on how critical it is for Connecticut to continue expanding mass transit in order to remain economically viable.

We are too reliant on cars, says Mr. Wray, noting currently 81% of metro Hartford commutes alone.  Although the State has taken positive steps in increase the use of transit, including CTfastrak (opening in 2015) and increasing the number of daily trains between New Haven and Hartford (opening 2017), we must continue to we must continue to aggressively invest in non highway transportation alternatives.

Expanding CTfastrak into Manchester and surrounding towns, and connecting the New Haven-Hartford rail lines to Springfield and then into Boston will help us compete economically, retaining the coveted 25-45 age skilled worker demographic.
