The Canton Main Street Project has achieved federal non-profit status, reports the Hartford Courant.
The CMSC member community hopes the new designation will make it easier to raise funds for the work they’re doing to help revitalize Collinsville.
Part of that work is focused on creating a marketing and branding strategy for the Collinsville area. The group, which works closely with the town’s economic development agency, is getting ready to hire a consultant for the marketing and branding strategy. The article notes the consultant will be paid for in part by a $10,000 Preservation of Place (POP) grant from CMSC. The economic development agency has an additional $10,000 in its own budget for marketing.
As with with its other revitalization work, the marketing and branding campaign will initially be focused in Collinsville, then expanded to include the town’s other commercial areas.
