This year’s awards will be presented on Monday, June 6th at E.O. Smith High School in downtown Storrs, and will be followed by interactive activities in the new Storrs Center. Activities include guided tours of the downtown development, a collaboration with the Ballard Institute & Museum of Puppetry, time for dinner and exploration among the Center’s many shops and restaurants, and a closing concert featuring the Funky Dawgz Brass Band.

Schedule of Activities
4:30 pm – Welcome Reception sponsored by United Illuminating in the E.O. Smith Auditorium Atrium
5:30 pm – Awards Presentation in the E.O. Smith Auditorium
6:15 pm – Parade to Storrs Center – featuring giant puppets from the Ballard Institute & Museum of Puppetry
6:30 -7:30 pm – Storrs Center Development, sponsored by Baywater Properties
Join Lou Marquet, Principal of LeylandAlliance, the developer of Storrs Center, for an overview of the development process that went into creating a new downtown from scratch.
7:00-7:45 pm – The Oaks on the Square
Join Keyla Rodriguez for a behind-the-scenes tour of Storrs Center’s newest downtown housing.
6:45 & 7:15 pm – Sculpture Walks by the Benton Museum
Join the Benton Museum for brief, 15 minute tours of some of the unique artwork in and around the Town Square.
Performances & Exhibits:
6:15-7:00 pm – E.O. Smith Jazz Band
Get your toes tapping with this performance by the E.O. Smith Jazz Band on the Town Square.
6:30-7:00 pm – Mini-Puppet Slams at the Ballard Institute
Watch as UConn puppetry graduate students delight you with a short performance featuring these unique creatures.
6:30-8:00 pm – The Bureau of Small Requests exhibit & tours at the Ballard Institute
Take in this unusual and fantastical puppetry exhibit.
7:30-9:00 pm – Closing Concert feat. the Funky Dawgz, sponsored by Fuss & O’Neill
Be sure to join us at the stage on the Town Square as we end the evening on a high note!
Food & Beverage, Other Activities:
These activities will be open to attendees for the duration of the evening.
Self-guided exploration of downtown Storrs – Explore the shops or stop for dinner in one of the Center’s many eateries. Or let our ambassadors guide you to some of Storrs Center’s more unique attractions, like the Ballard Institute & Museum of Puppetry, featuring mini-performances and the Bureau of Small Requests exhibit, or visit the multi-modal transportation center with its Library Express – a satellite location of the town public library.
UConn Dairy Bar Ice Cream Truck – All CMSC registered attendees receive a complimentary ice cream from the UConn Dairy Bar!
Virtual Scavenger Hunt – It’s as easy as 1-2-3! Find the clues on CMSC’s social media, take a selfie in front of one of the locations, then show your selfie at our Social Media Center (located on the Town Square). The first 10 people win a prize!
