The Northwest Connecticut Regional Planning Collaborative received a $10,000 Preservation of Place grant from CMSC for its Enlivening Village Center Public Spaces project, reports the Litchfield County Times.  Salisbury Bank donated an additional $5,000 to this total said the Collaborative’s Small Business and Economic Development Assistant Peter Feen.

While $15,000 may seem small when divided between the Collaborative’s member town centers, it is meant to be a starting point. The money will be allocated to “assess and brainstorm” ways to create more activity and buzz in the downtown areas of local towns and villages, explained Mr. Feen.

A total of seven municipalities and organizations from Bridgeport, Canton, Essex, New London, Norwalk, Willimantic, along with the Collaborative in the Northwest Corner, were awarded a total of $70,000 as part of the 2014 Preservation of Place grants.
