Holiday shopping will be a breeze this year, thanks to the shops in the newly developed Storrs Center, writes a former Hartford Courant reporter in an Op-Ed for the paper.  The writer notes the area, once a collection of shops along forlorn streets, has transformed into a bustling commercial center providing a good start at livening up the community and offering a reason to shop local.  Many of the stores and restaurants are on the ground floor of apartment buildings, adding an urban flair to a part of the state commonly referred to as the Quiet Corner.

The author concludes by thanking forward -thinking planners “for injecting vitality into this community and for giving me a place to shop, eat and meet friends — those basics of life we all desire, without having to drive miles and spend hours finding a parking place.”
