Gov. Dannel P. Malloy announced last week that Canton is one of 14 communities in the State to receive a Main Street Investment Fund (MSIF) grant.  The $387,000 grant for improvements in Collinsville was announced as town officials are ramping up their efforts with CMSC, reports the Hartford Courant.

Canton applied to the Main Street Investment Fund for streetscape improvements in Collinsville last fall, then joined CMSC during the winter. Although the grant and the work with CMSC are separate initiatives, they will complement each other nicely, said Kimberley Parsons-Whitaker, CMSC Associate Director.  “The grant will pay for things like pedestrian access and how parts of Collinsville are linked and that is part and parcel of what we have talked about,” said Ms. Parsons-Whitaker.
