Stamford native R.J. Mercede is leading the charge for community-driven change in his hometown, reports the Stamford Daily Voice. His view is that by infusing local business and youth ideas the city can stand on its own and not be simply another hub to New York City.

He heads the Stamford chapter of Young Energetic Solutions where members meet to be educated on “how to get involved in their communities through boards and commissions.” His goal is to spark new ideas through creative local engagement. Mr. Mercede also founded Stamford’s chapter of Eat for Equity and takes part in the the Ignite Stamford effort among others.

CMSC’s Communication Manager, Christine Schilke, is a member of the YES Statewide Steering Committee.
