Simsbury Main Street Partnership received a $10,000 grant from the Connecticut Main Street Center’s Preservation of Place grant program, reports the Hartford Courant.  The money will be used to help complete the second and third phases of a parking study of the downtown area. Sarah Nielsen, executive director of Simsbury Main Street Partnership,  said the project has been a collaboration between the nonprofit and town departments, including public works, engineering and planning.

The first phase of the study is underway and is focused on analyzing the downtown area’s existing conditions. The second phase will predict parking demands and deficits and the third phase will develop recommendations. Desman Design Management has been hired to compile the study.
