The Town of Seymour is the winner of this year’s “Renewed Commitment to Main Street Award” for its Downtown Action Strategy and Greenway Trail Plan, reports the Valley Independent Sentinel.   First Selectman W. Kurt Miller said of the award, “We’re very pleased that our efforts in downtown Seymour are being recognized and that the hard work of so many different groups is paying off. We are really making strides in changing perceptions of Seymour.”

The Town has worked hard to revitalize its downtown, engaging Planimetrics, a Connecticut-based consulting firm, to create a Downtown Action Strategy which was completed in 2012.  Since then, Seymour has set about implementing its recommendation. Under the direction of Economic Development Director Fred A. Messore, the Town has begun planning a Greenway Trail with consulting engineers Milone & MacBroom.
