Congratulations to CMSC member community, the Northwestern Regional Planning Collaborative on receiving a grant for $249,000 for shared economic development services!

The Collaborative is comprised of eight small towns in northwestern Connecticut that are taking a regional approach to revitalize and promote their village centers.   The grant from the State of Connecticut is for their “Collaborative Shared Economic Development Services” project.

According to the Collaborative, this project will allow them to carry out three key economic development strategies over the next two years:

  1. Hire a shared professional Economic Development Consultant.
  2. Carry out targeted marketing of one critical vacant commercial space in each town.
  3. Expand deployment of their 8-town tourism marketing campaign utilizing the “Secret Corner” & “DiscoverNWCT” branding.

The Collaborative first applied for this funding back in 2012 and is thankful to all of their sponsors, partners and member towns for supporting them.
