Progress continues on the new CTrail Hartford Line with the opening of the new train station in Wallingford on Monday. CTrail is expected to offer expanded train service between New Haven and Springfield starting in May 2018. New rail stations are also under construction in Meriden and Berlin, and designs are in the works for future stations in North Haven, Enfield, Newington, West Hartford, Windsor and Windsor Locks. Once operational, trains will arrive at stations in New Haven, Wallingford, Meriden, Berlin and Hartford every 45 minutes during peak hours and every 60 to 90 minutes during off-peak periods.

Transit-Oriented-Development (TOD) is also planned in Wallingford.  The town completed a TOD plan that will encourage mixed-use and retail development in Downtown. Parker Place, a nearby apartment complex is already expanding and the town created a new Town Center zoning district which includes reduced off-street parking requirements to encourage new TOD. Additional Transit-Oriented-Development is being planned at other stations along the Hartford Line.
