Storrs Center is bringing smart development to the new downtown, creating a college town where people want to stay and visit for the weekend, reports Tom Condon in the Hartford Courant.  The mix of apartments and retail space has been a success, especially in light of the fact that it came together during the Great Recession.  The next three phases will be completed over the next three years.  At the end there’ll be roughly 700 apartments and condos, a UConn Health Center facility, a UConn Co-Op bookstore, a supermarket and more.
