New London Main Street (NLMS), a CMSC designated member, has hosted and promoted 16 food strolls downtown.  Although these popular events brought locals together with out-of-towners in a celebration of local restaurants and businesses, the organization now has fewer resources and volunteers and only two-part time staff.  As a result, they are taking a close look at their business operations, placing a less emphasis on events and focusing more on filling empty storefronts using the National Main Street Model, report The Day.

The next food stroll takes place on Oct. 16. The Fall Food Stroll will kick off at 5:30 p.m. “Tastes” from 27 restaurants will be available and more than 16 retails stores will participate, serving food or highlighting their wares. There will be entertainment throughout the three-hour event.
