Middletown’s Common Council unanimously confirmed Michiel Wackers as the City’s new director of planning, conservation and development, reports the Middletown Press.  The position was vacated when longtime director William Warner retired earlier this year.

Council members heaped praised on Mr. Wackers’ work to date, as did city hall employees and city commission members at a public session and council interview preceding his confirmation.  Says the Middletown Press, “Deputy City Clerk Tina Ranno read a letter from the chief clerk, Linda Bettencourt. ‘I want the residents of Middletown to know that there are few more knowledgeable and dedicated employees than Michiel,’ wrote Bettencourt. ‘He is also, quite simply, brilliant.’”
