The Meriden Green was recently recognized by the Connecticut Main Street Center as a catalyst for economic growth downtown, reports the Meriden Record-Journal.

The $14 million flood control project exposed Harbor Brook and converted the former Meriden Hub site to a sprawling park, which opened in September.

“It reinforces what most people agree was just a phenomenal accomplishment,” said City Manager Guy Scaife. “This is just one more confirmation that it really was a big deal and outsiders see it that way… I would hope that the local folks will see it and share in the pride of the accomplishment.”
