Governor Dannel P. Malloy is a fan of New London, reports The Day newspaper. “I absolutely love New London,” Malloy told audience members during “Visions & Plans: New London 2013 & Beyond”, a development forum held at the Fort Trumbull Conference Center on January 16. “I think there are great opportunities here. You have a fan and a supporter in me,” The Day quotes the Governor as saying. New London has several development projects underway, including the 103-unit Village on Thames project in Fort Trumbull, breaking ground in May by Riverbank Construction.
The forum was hosted by New London Landmarks and featured presentations from groups with various plans for the city, including the Village on the Thames project in Fort Trumbull; an architectural study of three buildings at the corner of State and Bank streets; and proposed upgrades to the downtown municipal parking lot on Eugene O’Neill Drive, according to The Day. CMSC’s own Associate Director, Kim Parsons-Whitaker was one of the featured speakers.
