Money Magazine has named three Connecticut communities to its list of the nations’ top 50 small towns: Brookfield (26th), Cheshire (39th) and Simsbury (50th).

Money called Brookfield, “a great spot for water recreation — not to mention exploring lots of wooded hiking trails and open space,” while Cheshire was  described as “a quintessential New England town filled with horse barns, gardens and towering trees.” Meanwhile, they referred to Simsbury (a CMSC Designated Main Street Program) as a “bucolic New England town chock full of historic houses and parks.”

The magazine based its rankings on a variety of factors, including economic vitality, services for children and families, green space, good schools and a strong sense of community.  Additionally, Money named Cromwell 23rd among the 25 most affordable small towns.
