The American Planning Association (APA) named downtown Norwich one of the “10 Great Neighborhoods for 2013,” reports The Day.  The designation is part of APA’s Great Places in America program.  In awarding Noriwch the designation the organization noted some $70 million in public and private investment in the downtown over the past decade, the ethnic and cultural diversity and efforts to foster economic growth and jobs.  The award is especially prestigious considering no other city in New England made the top 10 list.

City officials are planning to celebrate the designation on October 15 at 3:30 p.m. with an event on the steps of City Hall.
