HARTFORD, August 15, 2017 – Connecticut Main Street Center (CMSC) and Leadership Greater Hartford (LGH) are pleased to announce a strategic partnership that will provide CT Main Street communities with training and tools for aspiring and established leaders focused on building stronger Main Streets.

The objective of this unique partnership is to connect Connecticut’s Main Streets with expertise, training, and support in leadership and organizational development that will enable downtowns to thrive. In recent surveys conducted by CMSC, communities revealed the desire and need to cultivate working relationships with leaders in their own communities. The benefits of taking advantage of this training include more effective civic collaborations and communities that are healthier and more inclusive.

The partnership reflects CMSC’s goal to offer its members unparalleled training and education in downtown management, while taking advantage of LGH’s long-established role as a leader in customized organizational development training. CT Main Street members will have the opportunity to participate in LGH programs on topics like board governance, leadership development, succession planning, organizational effectiveness and engagement.

Partnering with LGH was a natural choice for the state’s leading downtown resource. Leadership Greater Hartford is widely recognized for supporting and strengthening local communities through training and connecting aspiring and established leaders. For the past 40 years LGH has been at the helm of bringing people together from different parts of the community, to foster their leadership skills, and help them apply those skills to tackle tough civic and civil challenges.

“Leadership Greater Hartford is honored to support CT Main Street Center in its mission to create thriving communities. In fact, our missions are in sync. Our tenants: community, leadership, connections are key components for creating vibrant cities and towns. Our partnership also underscores our joint commitment not only to Greater Hartford, but throughout Connecticut. Vibrant communities create a stronger and more vibrant Connecticut,” said Karen Senteio, Director, LGH Consulting and Training.

“Together, CMSC and Leadership Greater Hartford are creating and arranging for delivery of training programs that Main Streets throughout Connecticut have the organizational and community engagement tools they need to thrive,” said Kimberley Parsons-Whitaker, CMSC’s Associate Director. “LGH brings a proven track record of cultivating and energizing local leaders to get involved and make a difference in their communities, and we are delighted to be working with them.”

CMSC will introduce the strategic partnership with Leadership Greater Hartford during a webinar on September 20th at 11:00 am. While this event is aimed at CT Main Street member communities, all are welcome to attend or view the recording on CMSC’s website at www.ctmainstreet.org
