CMSC is thrilled to announce the recipients of its 2014 Awards of Excellence. The six winning entries represent initiatives and organizations from Manchester, New Britain, the Northwestern CT Regional Planning Collaborative, Waterbury and Seymour. The initiatives displayed a wide range of strategic revitalization efforts including a community college partnering with the downtown and others to create a co-working space; connecting the Naugatuck River with the downtown through extended trails and a linear park; and regionalizing marketing for a collection of small village centers.

All of the award recipients continue the tradition of stimulating economic development and reinvigorating Connecticut’s social centers. “Connecticut’s downtowns provide the cornerstone for economic growth and prosperity, social opportunity, and communal spirit,” said Governor Dannel P. Malloy. “I applaud this year’s winners for the innovative way they’re creating downtowns that will meet our future needs while preserving our natural and historic assets.”
