Approximately 40 people turned out to hear speakers talk about downtown development, including CMSC Associate Director Kim Parsons-Whitaker who spoke about the Main Street Program, at the  Canton annual town meeting on Wednesday.  The Canton Patch is reporting that the topic of how “Main Street” can be improved in ways that not only bring economic vitality but also preserve the history and community of an area such as Collinsville were discussed.  In addition, the Town Commercial Center Plan and a brief history of Collinsville were presented. ‘“We believe very strongly that it’s not just about bringing business,”‘ the Patch reports Economic Development Agency Chairman Kevin Jackson as saying. “It’s taking care of the entire community.”’
