A steering committee charged with developing a strategy for using tax increment financing to spur redevelopment in Collinsville and possibly other areas in town will have its first meeting on Feb. 29, reports the Hartford Courant.

During the meeting the TIF steering committee will discuss generally the former Collins Company factory complex in Collinsville, the redevelopment of which town officials hope will be spurred through the TIF funsd.

The committee, which was appointed by the board of selectmen in February, will work with a consultant the town plans on hiring later this year after reviewing consultants’ submissions for the job. How much the consultant’s work will cost the town has not been determined but a $10,000 grant from Connecticut Main Street Center will pay for at least part of it.
