Construction on the new UConn campus in downtown Hartford will begin in spring 2015, reports the Hartford Courant. It’s expected that the new building will be open to students in the fall of 2014.  The $115 million campus will be on the site of the former Hartford Times property on Prospect Street.

UConn is pleased with the progress to date. “Having a design that encourages UConn’s students, guests and employees to interact with our various downtown partners is critical, and we’re excited to open the doors there in the coming years,” said UConn spokeswoman Stephanie Reitz. UConn is also negotiating with surrounding venues such as the Hartford Public Library, the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, and the Connecticut Science Center to share space.
