An old building is getting a new purpose as rental housing, reports the Hartford Courant. The “Professional Building”, located near Union Station at 179 Allyn Street, was built in the 1880s.  Auctioned last fall due to foreclouse, the building is being purchased by Dakota Partners who are proposing an estimated $14.7 million conversion to 63 market-rate apartments ranging from 500-800 sq. ft in response to demand for more housing and smaller units in downtown Hartford.  The first floor of the six-story building will continue to house the Nv Nightclub and Black Bear Saloon.
